Halo digital mirror: AI at the service of dentists and their patients

Problem and objectives
Problem
- Dental practice generates considerable stress for dentists and their patients.
- For dentists, working in a small space - the mouth - in difficult conditions (poor lighting, small mirror that constantly fogs up) is sometimes frustrating. In addition, a large part of their time is spent on administrative tasks with low added value.
- As for patients, their perception of dentists is often negative due to a lack of understanding of the necessity of the treatments offered, often in the absence of pain, and which are possibly not covered by current insurance.
Objectives
- Halo Dental Technologies designed the Digital Mirror to solve these problems by redefining the fundamental tool of dental practice. Using AI, it optimizes workflow, reduces distractions for professionals and increases their productivity while focusing on the patient experience.
Proposed solution
Solution
The Halo Digital Mirror combines several essential tools into one device for dental professionals. It replaces the operating light, the air gun and the intraoral camera by integrating more than 55 electronic components, all synchronized by artificial intelligence.
Principle
By centralizing workflow, the Halo Digital Mirror simplifies every step of dental processes and improves the patient experience. It thus becomes the optimal link between traditional and digital dentistry, facilitating their convergence for the benefit of everyone, including patients.
User experience
The Halo Digital Mirror brings the patient experience back to the forefront of dental professionals’ priorities.
Role of AI
Rather than competing with the dentist's knowledge, AI acts as an ally, simplifying and streamlining the professional's tasks.
Impacts
Main outcomes
Instant access to an integrated camera: Enables continuous visual communication with the patient without interrupting workflow, improving understanding and patient experience.
New educational software on the market: Allows dental professionals to present educational information directly to the patient during treatment.
Fast, integrated documentation: Photo capture with verbal annotations (natural language processing) for standardized digital documentation, replacing some after-hours documentation tasks.
Dual Camera Recording: includes an intraoral camera during the procedure, allowing instant creation of educational content.
Intelligent Automation: Works with computer vision technology to instantly deliver light to the mouth and prevent fogging, adapting in real time to the environment.
Conditions for success
Team mobilised
Artificial intelligence is at the heart of Halo Dental Technologies' vision. AI is used to create tools that enable dental professionals to excel in their practice and communicate clearly with their patients, thereby enriching their experience. Rather than competing with the dentist's knowledge, AI acts as an ally, simplifying and streamlining the professional's tasks.
Collaborations
The Digital Mirror was created in close collaboration with OSEDEA. Other collaborators will certainly be added in the years to come, because AI is at the center of Halo Dental Technologies' vision.
Project stages
Halo Dental Technologies has achieved very clear market validation by participating in several exhibition shows. They are currently at the physical testing stage. Clinical use cases in controlled environments will follow in the coming months. The first deliveries of the Halo Digital Mirror are scheduled for mid-2025.
